If we can’t find any record of a title in our ILS, and can’t see that’ it’s a “comes with” title by viewing EBSCOnet, we send the journal to the appropriate subject liaison for their review. If they want to subscribe, we’ll start a new sub. Sometimes they
choose online instead of print so, just because we’ve received a print sample issue that doesn’t mean that’s the format we'll keep. If they don’t choose to subscribe, we have a “decision file” where the title is entered so we know it has been reviewed, that
we decided to toss, and won’t need to be routed in the future. We have a box where we put our dups or non-subscribed issues and once it is full we send to EBSCO for the Missing Copy Bank. EBSCO reimburses us for the postage costs.
Most of this is taken care of by students. It’s not terribly time consuming.

All,
Lately, my institution has been receiving print issues of journals we don't subscribe to. Does this happen at any of your libraries very often? If so, what do you do with them? My inclination is to just recycle them, but I'm wondering if anyone takes the
time to send them back to the publisher instead.
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
