This is a tenure-track faculty position.

This position is responsible for the cataloging of all materials received by the Academic Library and for supervising the bibliographic content of the library’s on-line public access catalog. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervises all cataloging of library materials regardless of format of materials. Supervises technical assistant in performance of copy cataloging. Insures adequacy and usability of library public access catalog. Is responsible for the management of the library holdings database (via OCLC and Innovative Interfaces’ Millennium) and for its accuracy and current contents. Works closely with the Millennium Systems Administrator and reference librarians in improving the PAC for quality, content, usefulness and appearance. Keeps abreast of OCLC policies, rules and enhancements. Participates in cataloging workshops as appropriate. Maintains OCLC and Millennium format documentation and account statements. Resolves all cataloging problems and does original cataloging for input into OCLC database. Serves on the regular reference weekend rotation. Provides up to ten (10) hours per week of reference service. Works with faculty members in designated departments for coordination of library services. Provides bibliographic instruction for those departments. Works closely with acquisitions librarian to resolve mutual problems. All faculty members are eligible for service on various university committees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MLS (ALA-accredited); Knowledge of cataloging policies and procedures; Two years’ experience as a professional cataloger. Prefer second master’s degree.
