Hi Deb,

We discarded our JSTOR microform titles too.  I called one of the local hospitals to see what they did with their x-ray film.  The company they recommended said our film didn’t have any silver content but they would be happy to drop by and pick of our film for recycle, no charge.  They did ask us to take it off the spools.  It was surprising how many bags it took to hold that loose film.  Hint: Drop the spool into a trash can and stuff the film in a bag as you pull it off.  They took our fiche too.  I was so glad it did not have to go to the landfill.   Hope this helps.

Subject: [SERIALST] Weeding microfiche and microfilm

Since the Microforms discussion lists seems to have ceased, does anyone have suggestions on where to look for what to do with old microforms that are being weeded?

We are weeding ones that are covered by JSTOR, so there would be no point in sending a list to backserv.

Thank you for any assistance. I will post summaries to the list if requested.
