We also classify w/ LC and would keep titles together by giving them the same call no. But we have one location w/ a really small collection that’s alphabetical
by title (we previously had another larger one, but it was changed to call no. order). Since we use Marc format, if there were a title change in that collection and, for some reason like space limitations, we wanted to not move it from its current spot, we
could/would use 852 ‡l [that’s lower case L], which in our opac displays as Shelved as … and put the older title in the ‡l. We also do this if the shelving title is different from the 245 title (e.g. acronyms instead of spelled out).
