Hello Barbara:

CENTURY MAGAZINE had a checkered history. Vols. 1-22 were published as SCRIBNER'S MONTHLY (not to be confused with SCRIBNER'S MAGAZINE which had a life of its own). Until the Aug. 1929 issue, it retained the basic title, CENTURY. From Sept 1929 to May 1930 it was known as FORUM AND CENTURY. Vol. 120#2 (May 1930) was the last issue published.

Mott's HISTORY OF AMERICAN MAGAZINES, vol. 3, devotes a long chapter to CENTURY's history.

Hello.  We have the complete run of the title above.  At least I think so.   According to OCLC, it begins with Nov 1881 and runs to January 1882, 3 issues.  The title on the issue title pages is Century Magazine.  I have looked each issue's title page and the pages of the text, but there is no mention of Scribner's monthly.  I do not have the issue covers.  I am thinking that the title on the cover must be Century Magazine Scribner's Monthly.  Could someone out there confirm this for me?  I want to make sure I have this checked in on the correct record.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
