Cataloger/Metadata Librarian
Responsibilities: The University
of Central Florida seeks an outstanding individual for the position of Cataloger/Metadata Librarian. She or he will be responsible for making both digital and physical collections available to users by creating accurate and helpful metadata records for materials
in a variety of formats using MARC, Dublin Core, XML, and other formats as appropriate. The successful candidate will bring energy and an expansive vision to the department, leading the effort to optimize metadata output and finding new ways to use metadata
to expose the library's collections. The Cataloger/Metadata Librarian will coordinate metadata training for other catalogers. She or he will work closely with the Digital Initiatives Librarian and the Head of Special Collections to create metadata for digital

The Cataloger/Metadata Librarian will monitor national and international trends in metadata, cataloging, and
discovery; foster a culture of productivity and user-centered practices; and organize training to ensure that members of the department are current in their metadata skills. The person in this position will report to the Head of Cataloging. As a member of
the UCF faculty, the successful candidate will be expected to be active in research and professional service. More information at

Qualifications: Required:
Master’s degree from an American Library Association-accredited institution; Working knowledge of MARC21 or non-MARC metadata schema including but not limited to MODS, METS, Dublin Core, etc.; Awareness of current issues and trends in metadata and digital
library development.
Preferred: Experience with
a major ILS, preferably Aleph; Working knowledge of the OCLC Connexion client; Familiarity with LC classification and subject headings; Familiarity with AACR2, RDA, and the FRBR concepts; Experience with controlled vocabularies or taxonomies, such as LCSH,
MESH, etc.; Experience with a digital collections creation and management tool, such as ContentDM; Familiarity with HTML and XML; Familiarity with repository software, such as DSpace, EPrints, Fedora, etc.; Proficiency in a standard project management application,
such as MS Project, BaseCamp, or ProjectPier; Excellent project management skills; Experience as a trainer; Ability to work independently and apply good judgment; Ability to solve problems in a team environment; Excellent analytical skills; Strong user focus;
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; Experience in an academic research library.
Salary and Rank: Commensurate
with experience and qualifications, with an entry range of high-$30K’s to mid-$40K’s. This is a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position with insurance and retirement benefits, 22 paid annual days, 13 sick days, 9 holidays, and no state income tax.
