The position responsibilities include cataloging online and print resources, with an emphasis on serials and integrating resources, and may also include assisting with other formats. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and detail-oriented self-starter and team-player who enjoys solving problems in an openly collaborative environment with continually evolving technologies.

Position Description:

The Continuing Resources Cataloging Librarian is responsible for performing original and complex copy cataloging, as well as the enhancement of records for continuing resources and monographs in different formats, including, but not limited to electronic resources, according to established national guidelines and standards. The librarian will participate with other cataloging faculty in formulating local policies and procedures.

The Librarian will also contribute and modify name and series authority records through the NACO branch of the Program for Cooperative Cataloging. The Librarian is expected to develop expertise in all matters related to the cataloging of continuing resources and series authority control, and serve as a resource for other librarians and staff by providing training and consultation in these areas. The Librarian is expected to be innovative and maintain knowledge of national trends and developments in cataloging and metadata standards in order to continually assess their impact on local policies, procedures and training needs. Librarians are expected to participate in professional activities appropriate to their position and to perform other duties as assigned.

This is an academic appointment carrying full faculty status and responsibilities including research, publication and service to meet both the Libraries’ and the University’s requirements for tenure and promotion.
