Responsible for selecting, purchasing, and acquiring all monograph resources, in print and electronic formats, in support of education, research, and patient care at Washington University School of Medicine. Also responsible for handling provider licenses, including the library’s e-books in Serials Solutions, troubleshooting e-book access problems, overseeing the monograph collection for use, relevance, and condition, and writing and monitoring the monograph budget.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

Developing, managing, and regularly reassessing the library’s monograph-collection policy.

Supporting the Catalog Librarian by cataloging all donated items and assisting, as needed, with cataloging print and electronic monographs.

Serving as the library’s primary contact with book donors.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

Equivalent of MS in Library Science or related area, with ability to handle library programs.

 

 

Preferred qualifications include:

ALA-accredited Master's Degree in Library/Information Science

Three years experience in library acquisitions, including publisher and vendor contact, licensing, and management of electronic resources.

Experience with budget planning and allocation.

Familiarity with basic book cataloging, including assigning NLM classification and MeSH subject headings.
