Hi Charley:
I am curious, which index are the 3XX fields in? Some libraries have indexed in
Keyword or a special index.

Hi Cheryl-
We turned on the new RDA 3xx fields before the test and they are searchable in our staff catalog (Sirsi/Dynix Symphony). However, we use an Endeca discovery layer for
our public catalog interface and these fields are not indexed there. We currently use item level data to do what the 33x would do (enable public display of format, enable faceted search/filters) and I have to say that I think our language is a little more
clear than "other projected carrier" or "tactile three-dimensional form". Of course, we could substitute whatever public text we might prefer to the terms used in the 33x,
IF we had 3xx data in all of our records, which we do not. We
DO, otoh, have item types, in all of our records, and at the item level where it makes the most sense given the multimedia nature of so many resources these days.

Good morning:
We are wondering:
Are libraries planning to index RDA (336-384) fields within their library catalogs?
We are especially interested in what others with Innovative Interfaces catalogs are planning to do.
We are aware that III recommends that we not index these fields at this time; however, we are
undergoing a re-indexing project which should take place in July or August.
thank you,
Cheryl
