LAC Group
seeks a Serials
Coordinator for a full-time, long-term temporary position at
a highly regarded law firm located in Baltimore, MD. As part of the
Serials Team, this position oversees and performs all serials related functions
firm-wide, including orders, renewals, statistical reporting, and
invoicing.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee serials-related functions for the handling of
Library materials, including check-in, routing, and filing of
newly-received materials
- Use the Innovative Interfaces Millennium Serials module
to track and claim missing and/or damaged materials, renewals, binding,
and withdrawal of out-of-date or discarded materials
Evaluate serials in print and electronic formats for ease of use and cost
effectiveness
- Provide quality records for loading into the
firm’s Electronic Resource Management (ERM) component using the
Millennium Serials module
- Coordinate filing activity including loose-leaf
services and pocket parts
- Keep informed regarding emerging trends in serials
management
- Established and maintains a systematic review of
serials for duplication and reduced demand
Maintain and manages journal routing lists for all offices
Routinely retrieve and analyze usage statistics from Millennium Serials
module
Coordinate arriving attorney protocols, provide master serials lists, and
departing attorney protocols, retrieve borrowed materials, desk books, and
office copies
- Ensure smooth workflow of Serials Team
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- MLS or equivalent combination of education and
experience
- 4+ years of relevant experience with serials and circulation
in an academic, public, or private law firm library using an ILS,
preferably Innovative Interfaces Millennium
Knowledge of serials routing and maintenance policies/procedures in an
academic, public, or private law firm library
- Knowledge of systematic weeding, binding, and storage
procedures for current and back issues
Familiarity with pulling and interpreting serials usage reports
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a
team
