Purpose of survey   

        The purpose of this survey is gather data on what specific elements of a candidate’s application or interview process have had a negative impact on their candidacy. The anonymous, 11-question survey is intended for members of librarian (faculty or non-faculty status) search committees, and it is hoped that the answers will provide advice for potential job seekers. It should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

Confidentiality of Data          

          All data collected will be keep confidential and only used in the aggregate. If examples are used they will be reworded to hide any detail that may identify either the respondent or applicant. The results will be used in aggregated form only. When referring to the results only feminine pronouns will be used throughout any presentation or publication.

Informed Consent  

          Since this is a web-based instrument, each respondent gives their consent to participate in the survey by choosing the complete the survey form. Participation is strictly voluntary, and involves no coercion or deception. Any respondent may freely withdraw from the survey after reading the guarantees of privacy and confidentiality.
