2011 Pricing – Single Sites or Consortia Multisite Pricing

Download OSA’s 2011 institutional subscription prices for single sites, or please contact us if you would like a quote on multisite or consortia pricing. If you subscribe directly with OSA, renewal invoices will be mailed to you later this summer. If you prefer to order through a subscription agent, the agents do have our 2011 prices so please work with them directly on your renewal. OSA Remains Top Publisher of Peer-Reviewed Optics and Photonics Content

OSA is pleased to announce its 14 flagship, partnered, and co-published peer-reviewed journals continue to provide the most citations and articles in the field of optics and photonics, according to the recently released Thomson Reuters 2009 Journal Citation Reports® (JCR). Combined, OSA’s journals make up nearly 40% of the total citations received in 2009 and 35% of all articles published in the JCR’s optics category — both more than any other publisher in this category.  Of the 70 journals listed in the optics category, eight OSA published or co-published journals appear within the top 25 journals based on impact factor. View JCR data for all OSA publications.

http://www.osa.org/Publications/ISI_Rankings.aspx

OSA RANKED HIGH BY 5-YEAR EIGENFACTOR ™ METRIC

The JCR now includes an Eigenfactor™ score for each journal. OSA’s Optics Express, Optics Letters and Applied Optics are among the top four journals in the optics category based on Eigenfactor. The Eigenfactor calculates the number of times articles from the journal published in the past five years has been cited in the JCR year while considering which journals have contributed to these citations by eliminating self-citations in the scoring. This relatively new Eigenfactor score is a good indicator of a journal’s influence and OSA is proud of our scores in this category. http://admin-apps.isiknowledge.com/JCR/help/h_eigenfact.htm

These rankings validate the standard of excellence set by OSA’s journals, and we look forward to working with you in the new subscription year to ensure that you are offering the excellent content in the broad field of optics and photonics to your patrons.

As always, if you have any questions about your subscription options, please contact us at elec@osa.org or +1-202-416-1901. You may also contact us personally; we'd be glad to hear from you.

We are delighted to announce that the International Journal of
Engine
Research (http://www.pepublishing.com/acadpub/JER/home/)
has been
awarded an Impact Factor of 0.903 in the 2009 Journal Citation Reports.
Published 6 times a year, the Journal includes only the highest quality
original
papers on experimental and analytical studies of engine technology.

With global coverage of the latest research developments and technological
advances affecting the automotive, railway and marine industries, and other
areas of transportation, this Journal is essential reading for engineers in
engine
research and development both in academia and industry.

As publishers to the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, our Journals are a
vital addition to any engineering collection. The most recent Impact Factors

News from MIT Press Journals

2011 Pricing Available

2011 Pricing from MIT Press Journals is now available, with an average price increase of 2.5% from 2010. In this difficult economic climate, with budget cuts deeply affecting libraries, The MIT Press realizes the importance of keeping journals affordable and strives to keep pricing as low as possible. While the slight pricing increase is necessary to cover current operating costs, the Press continues to work towards keeping prices low, with the goal of disseminating its materials as widely as possible. Please follow the link to find a full listing of 2011 Prices from MIT Press Journals: http://www.mitpressjournals.org/userimages/ContentEditor/1277324163002/pricelist.pdf

QJE and JEEA to Depart

Two economic journals from the MIT Press collection will depart in 2011: The Quarterly Journal of Economics will move to Oxford University Press, and Journal of the European Economic Association will move to Wiley-Blackwell. While the loss of these publications is not without impact, the MIT Press Journals Economics publishing program remains highly robust, with strong offerings in economics such as The Review of Economics and Statistics, as well as Asian Economic Papers. The MIT Press has valued the opportunity to publish both QJE and JEEA during their tenure at the Press. For information on 2011 renewals please contact the respective new publishers for each journal.

World Policy Journal will also be leaving the MIT Press for a yet to be determined publisher in 2011.

Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience moving to Online-Only in 2011

Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience, the leading publication in the mind sciences, will become online-only with Volume 23, starting in January 2011. Each issue will be published exclusively in PDF, PDF Plus, and full-text HTML formats. JOCN will continue to feature the same, fully illustrated color format and offer access to the entire online archive with a current subscription. While print issues of the journal will no longer be published after January, individual print back issues will still be available for purchase from The MIT Press. JOCN will of course continue to publish interdisciplinary work of the highest standards covering all aspects of neuroscience and brain-behavior interaction, in a highly-accessible online format.

CISnet: A New Resource from the MIT Press

The MIT Press recently introduced a new online resource: CISnet, which brings together many of the MIT Press's recent and classic titles in computer and information science into a fully searchable online library located at http://cisnet.mit.edu. Subscribers have access to over 200 MIT Press books on topics including programming, artificial intelligence, machine learning, human computer interaction, databases, digital libraries, networking, and robotics. Recently added titles include HCI Remixed (edited by Thomas Erickson and David W. McDonald), Using OpenMP (Barbara Chapman, Gabriele Jost, and Ruud van der Pas), Virtual Music (David Cope), and Group Cognition (Gerry Stahl). Books can be viewed page-by-page and are fully searchable. CISnet is the Press’s second collection of e-books in a single subject area, coming ten years after the groundbreaking MIT CogNet, a collection of full-text journal content, reference works and books in the cognitive and brain sciences.

6.  IET Journals go from strength to strength - with
increased impact factors

IET Journals go from strength to strength – with increased impact factors

The IET is delighted to announce that every title in the suite of 20 IET Research Journals received fantastic impact factor news – with one journal receiving an increase of 227%. The newest title in the portfolio (launched too recently to receive an impact factor) also received great news – IET Power Electronics (www.ietdl.org/IET-PEL) has been successful in its application for inclusion in the Web of Science and as such will receive its first impact factor in 2011.

All research journals published by the IET are indexed in the prestigious Thomson Reuters’ Web of Science – the world’s leading citation index with multidisciplinary content from nearly 12,000 of the top tier international and regional journals. Of the 2,500 journals submitted for consideration in this database annually, only 10-12% are selected for inclusion.

Each journal in the Web of Science receives an “impact factor” score each year in June – when Thomson Reuters publish their Journal Citation Report. The impact factor is a measure of the number of citations within scientific journals. It is used to gauge the relative importance of a scientific journal within its field.

Daniel Smith, Head of Academic Publishing, at the IET said: “This is gratifying news. Not only have we succeeded in increasing the impact factors of all previously included titles across the portfolio, but also our two most recently launched titles have also been accepted for inclusion. Despite the continuing rapid expansion of journals publishing the market is increasingly focussed on quality, and I think we can confidently say this result is a validation of the excellence of IET Journals’ content.”

A full list of the impact factor scores released in June 2010 is available at: www.theiet.org/publishing/journals/recent/

For more information on each journal and its impact factor visit the IET Digital Library at www.ietdl.org. For details on how to submit research to the IET Journals visit: www.theiet.org/publishing/author-guides/index.cfm
