Well, the only way a new e-journal is going to get adopted in this fiscal climate is if faculty, particularly silverback faculty, start a campaign agitating for the title; best chance if they ask for the title by name in a survey instrument being used for accreditation purposes.  That might do it.  Or it could just be bundled into a big aggregator.  But I have to say that most (okay, probably all) of those multiple-copy slick advertising circulars touting some Very Important New Journal that arrive addressed to everyone that ever worked for the library, go directly to recycling, and the e-mails virtually the same.

Subject: [SERIALST] Marketing new journals

Do you all have suggestions for marketing new journals, particularly e-journals that are subscription based--to libraries?
Do vendors leap at the chance to pick up these titles or does an institution just target Acquisitions Depts. and use the ALA Directory--and listservs?
Ideas appreciated.
