I made a spreadsheet of our titles with one column listing the current shelf space used and the second listing the average years growth.  That provided options for figuring how many years of growth we wanted to allow.  Another hint, since you have space, is to leave either the top or bottom shelf open(or some here and there) to allow new titles.  The shift is easier that way.

Subject: [SERIALST] Shifting and reorganizing

We are reorganizing and shifting back issues of our print collection. The weeding is done and we are trying to decide how much space to leave for active titles before we start shifting.  Is there a recommended amount of shelf space? Fortunately we are not short of space at the moment.

Thanks.

Marguerite
