The Magicshine light with the handlebar o-rings for mounts leave a lot
to be desired in terms of stability.  The light is known to slip on
the bars.

In my humble opinion, DIY lights are the only way to go - provided you
have the time!  DIY lights may not look as cool as commercially
produced lights, but you have the options of specifying your own beam
pattern (lenses and reflectors), LEDs, batteries, etc.  You also have
the satisfaction of knowing you built the light :)
