GCCMail: Nature Coast Trail
George Edwards 04 Jul 2006 07:26 EDT
Dear Friends:
Good News: The old bone-shaker of a causeway on the Nature Coast Trail
now has a coat of asphalt making it as smooth as a billiard table.
We will try to do a short ride to see it for the Club picnic on 15 July.
The Office of Greenways and Trails should be thanked for this
improvement: Please send a short email of thanks to Jena Brooks, the
Director of OGT, at Jena.B.Brooks@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, letting her know you
appreciate the efforts of her agency. Jena is a good kid, and the right
kind of Director - she actually rides the trails under her care. I met
her once in the middle of the Cross Florida Greenway, riding along the
new off-road trail, and I know she has entered the Tour de Felasco at
least once.
But I have one piece of bad news for those of us who ride out of Trenton
and like to eat: The Olde Boarding House is no more. It has morphed
into an Italian restaurant with white tablecloths and fancy crystal, and
is open only at night. Shed a tear for no more all-you-can-eat fried
chicken and collard greens, with apple crisp and ice cream after. Sic
transit gloria mundi.
Cheers,
George
