To all,

Some further information to add, from Ally's email. Here is a link if
there might be an issue with a County maintained road. Based on it's
location within Alachua County the County's Public Works department
could respond who's road (FDOT, County or other AC City - like City of
Gainesville).

And further information on the Adopt-A-Road program (as GCC has one
plus Andrew and Ally Gill do also):

Please don't get me wrong, and I apologized in advance for 1 more email to
the listserve. ; DOT is a great idea, but it's not immediate, in fact, they
have a 3-5 business days turn around though they usually take care of things
sooner. ; I am not expecting a whole group to stop and picking things up. ;
I am referring to when you are riding alone or with a friend. ; Stop and
pick things up on a ride is not any different than to stop for a flat. ;
"setting people up for injury or death" is a poor excuse, no offense. ; So
instead of getting rid of the debris, we rather be killed by hitting it or
killed by cars while trying to avoid it? ; Eric Johnson(of Chain
Reaction)and I have picked up numerous debris on Millhopper Road when we are
on our easy rides. ; Nothing wrong with stopping on the side of a bikelane
to pick things up. ; No one asked you to stop on the side of a road with no
shoulders/bikelanes to pick things up. ; I have seen time and time again
that cyclists would ride around a large branch sitting in the middle of the
bike lane on Millhopper, and IT IS SAD!!! ; Enuff said. ; Rubber side down.
Heads up. Ride SAFE!!

I clean crap off of SR20 befor hipp rides during my warm up when I go that
way.

Shannon is correct. ; I was turning on to Wacahota(sp?) last night, but the
group went straight when they shouldn't have... so I did too.

On one of the next few south GCC rides, I suspect we will stop and pick up
the big stuff so that later in the hipp season, when we take 441, we won't
see what happened last night.

Allyson brings up a good point. ; I believe Huan has called the overseeing
authority(s) before and has had them clean roads or even fill pot holes. ;
How 'bout several (or all) of you out there call and complain... and the
first to do it post the appropriate departmental number(s) to the list.

Thank you for listening, and lets ride!... heads UP and calling crap out!!!!
