GCCMail: Gliders Ride, Friday, Nov. 10th Ken Sallot 05 Nov 2006 14:24 EST

What: Gliders Ride, 62 miles
When: Friday, November 10th, 9:00AM
Where: Depart from downtown Micanopy, map online @
       http://www.astro.ufl.edu/~ken/sw-60.gif

Details: A few of us who are going to the Horrible Hundred feel that
one more day of hills might not be a bad thing. In addition, rumor
has it that the coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks is pretty good,
so if you're going to be paying attention to the football game
rather than riding on Saturday, this will give you an opportunity
to still get in a long ride on the "weekend".

Please note: special one shot day and time because of the game and
the three day weekend.

About The Gliders

The Gliders are a group that strives to maintain high training speeds
over moderate distances and maintain the integrity of the group. The
average speed of our rides generally will fall between 18 and 19.5
mph. We will sometimes have a Power Glider group that will average
up to 20.5 mph. You must be capable of holding these speeds for
three to four hours in order to stay with the group. On most rides,
we stop once at a store. If there are more than 15 riders who will
participate in the pace line, please form two groups. For full
information about the group, visit our web page.

To participate, you must sign the safety pledge, wear a helmet, be
able to change a flat tire, and have a capable road bike. You can
agree to the safety pledge on our web site.

If you are not a club member, you can print a membership form from
our web site.
