Hi Everyone,

Join us for yet another epic Sunrise Ride - Saturday June 24th.
Meet at the Chevron at 7:15 for a 7:30am SHARP departure.  50
miles (give or take 5), av speed 19.5-20mph.  Pace strictly capped
at 22mph for the first 3/4 of the ride. We had 18 riders out last
week! Come to the ride start with route suggestions as I don't
have a route picked out for this week.

Let me take this opportunity to wish Bob Howland a speedy recovery
from his ordeal on our ride last weekend.  Bob has ridden with the
Sunrise ride for years.  He often comes up with route suggestions
and usually has to lead the ride as I inevitably get lost on new
routes.  Bob is always the first one to circle back and pick up
dropped riders - pulling them back up to the pack, or just riding
with them until the next group up.  He has also been a great help
to me in keeping the ride within the posted speeds.  He is a great
asset to the ride and we will miss him out there in the coming
months.

I think a lesson we can take away from his ordeal is to be
prepared to go it alone out on route.  Bob dropped off the back
without anyone noticing (we were at a point in the ride where we
do not group up anymore).  The fact that he had his cell and could
call 911 might have saved his life.

Bob, on behalf of all the Sunrise Riders - we wish you a speedy
recovery and hope to see you back on the road soon!
