Dear Friends:
Well, we got scared off by a little rain last Saturday, so let's try
again on Saturday 3 November on a different trail, one we don't
frequently ride. We will leave the Brandy Branch Trailhead of the flat,
well-paved Jacksonville-Baldwin Trail, and ride toward Jacksonville,
departing the Trailhead at 9:00 AM. The usual EZ Riders measured pace,
scorned by Real Cyclists, and we will stop for wildflowers, etc. The
distance will be as far as folks wish (the entire Trail is 14 miles.).
Bring water and snacks, if you need, plus bug juice, sun screen, etc.
Suitable for families and beginners.
It has been far too long since we rode this trail, but as I recall there
is a good BBQ joint in Baldwin somewhere. We will find it, or somewhere
else to eat.
To get there, go to Waldo, thence North on 301 to Baldwin, passing under
I-10. In Baldwin, turn Left (West) on US 90, and in about 2 miles turn
Right (North) on CR 121 (Brandy Branch Road) to the Trailhead.
The long-range forecast is favorable, but due to the distance please let
me know if you are coming. And better give me your cell number so we
can get in contact while on the road, if necessary. My cell is
352.514.2443.
I will look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers,
George
