GCCMail: EZ Riders Interpretive Ride on Labor Day
George Edwards 27 Aug 2006 17:38 EDT
Dear Friends:
If there is sufficient interest I will lead an Interpretive Ride for the
Labor Day Picnic on Monday 4 September, starting from Boulware Springs
at 9:00 AM.
This will be a version (well, same script) of "The Prairie by Bicycle",
the interpretive ride I do for the State Park. It is short, with more
lecturing than riding, so real cyclists will not enjoy it. But if you
are interested in nature and the natural history of this area, not to
mention paleontology, archeology, geology, hydrology, or just like to
hear about ancient animals, ancient people, why the rocks are where they
are, and how water is so important to Alachua County, you might enjoy
it. (How about people hunting elephants on Paynes Prairie?)
But I need to know how many want to join this ride, so please do get
back to me if you plan to go along. I need to keep a sign-up list.
Cheers,
George
