GCCMail: Developers, West End ride james thompson 02 Nov 2010 13:07 EDT

Developers will leave at 7:30 a. m. sharp next (allowing daylight
savings to kick in) Wednesday, and continuing on thereafter each
Wednesday, at Bike Works in Town of Tioga (13005 SW 1st Road, Newberry
32669). There are two coffee shops open at that time (one chain
coffee shop and one local bakery). The bike shop is not open that
early, so come ready to ride! We will return no later than 9:30 a. m.
The bike shop is open at 10:00 a. m. if you need repairs or other
items (disclaimer: I work there).

Developers is a ride for fit riders, speed limit of 18mph, who want to
practice drafting, learn group etiquette, and participate in the
paceline culture of cycling at a level just above recreational, but
not too fast. Experienced riders are required to teach and mentor,
and new riders are required to listen, learn, and enjoy!
Occasionally, by consensus, and only with a group familiar with each
other, we practice intermediate competitive tactics for very short
periods. No matter what we do, we always regroup, and no one rides
home alone ("no drop"). If you are a fit "High B" rider, and can ride
solo at about 16mph for an hour, you should be fine. Our rides are
famously ego and testosterone free (of both the male and female kind).

We may do these rides on a weekend as well, as interest dictates.

James Thompson
