GCCMail: Sunrise Ride, Sat, August 28th (51 miles)
pmessal@xxxxxx 26 Aug 2010 16:42 EDT
The Sunrise rides offer less traffic, less wind, less precipitation, cooler temperatures and great company.
This week we'll be adding a few miles and joining in for the first part of the Glider's training Century. Plan on an extra half hour or so of riding as we'll do a few more miles than normal.
Saturday, August 28th
MEET: At the Chevron station <http://gccfla.org/ridelocnw.html> on the
corner of NW 43rd St and 53rd Ave.
PARK: In the Chevron station, along NW 43rd St.
!!! With the Gliders, the A's and Sunrisers all in attendance at 7am this week...I suggest riding to the start if at all possible !!!
*Start at the north end and work south.
*Do not park in the slots alongside the station or along NW 53rd Ave.
*Please watch where you are standing; do not block the flow of traffic going to
the pumps.
!!! THE TIME: Meet at 7:00 AM; Depart at 7:15 AM !!!!
THE PLAN: Hang on to your hats Sunrisers, we're gunna get crazy!
We'll be riding the first part of the Santa Fe Century. See map for route:
http://www.gainesvillecyclingclub.org/maps/SFC05.pdf
When the century riders head north at Traxler, we'll continue east on SR 236. From there we'll go to:
121 > 156th > 59th > Hague > 441 > 43rd
...for a total of about 51 miles. If needed, we can stop QUICKLY at the Citgo on 236 (it's the last of the gas stations on the right once over the I-75 overpass)
THE PACE: We'll follow the lead of the Glider's Training Century until we split. Afterwards, the usual Sunrise rules apply. Average 20 mph, regroup at turns, no speed limit once we hit 441 on the way in.
