GCCMail: Trail Construction
George Edwards 08 Jul 2010 09:53 EDT
Dear Friends:
There is construction work underway on the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail
this week and next, addressing the problem of root bumps. You may find
crews working on both flattening the bumps, and also applying sealant on
the cracks.
PLEASE USE CAUTION IN THE VICINITY OF WORK CREWS. This is both for
your safety and the safety of the crew members. The machinery in use is
noisy and makes it hard for the trail workers to hear an approaching
cyclist, so assume they do not know you are there, and that they might
turn a tool or something out into your path unexpectedly.
And you don't want that sticky tar on your tires or wheels.
Law enforcement may be on the look-out for cyclists who endanger workers
by riding too close at high speed.
Work should be completed by the middle of the month.
Cheers,
THE TRAILKEEPERS
George Edwards
