This message is stolen and pasted with a few editions from
Jonathan's normal message so it is still VERY long winded as Grad
Students tend to be... edits)...
When: Saturday morning April, 19th. Meet at 7:30am for a
7:45am departure
Start: The Chevron Gas Station NW 53rd and NW 43rd
Distance: 35-45 mi.
Pace: 19.5mph average (approx). This means we usually cruise
at around 20-21 on flats. Pace is strictly capped at 22mph for at
least the first 30 miles of the ride (unless we have a tailwind).
This ride is ideal for those who are on a time budget on Saturday
-
we will be back by 10am - unless stop for mechanical issues.
Unless I am overruled by popular vote, The route is a reverse of
the usual ride: North on 43rd through the Hague - right onto 237 -
left onto 235 - right onto 239 - left onto 236 - left onto 241 -
left onto millhopper back to the Chevron. (If everyone wants to
go a bit longer we add on peggy road or even do the Traxler route
- 49mi.)
We stop for mechanicals and will regroup at the major turns. There
is no stop on the ride except to quickly group up if necessary.
The speed limit is off once we hit millhopper - where the pace may
increase during the last several miles of the ride - dont worry
come out its a straight shot in! I cannot even count how many
times I have been dropped on millhopper.
Once, two weeks ago, a very nice woman yelled at me on a ride for
not pulling enough up over the interstate there and I promptly got
spit out the back - but it was very fun the whole ride back i
swear - so come on out and have a fun ride and be back by the time
the kids are done with their cartoons - although these days they
can watch nick so they never actually stop do they?
Please check the Glider section of the GCC website for detailed
information about this style of riding - Of course, helmets are
required on all GCC rides.
If you are running late (something I am infamous for)
give me a call to let us know to wait for you (i dont know
anyone's phone number so i always have to chase.).
My cell is cell 281-7266.
