trainer for my road bike. Grad school is taking up an increasing
amount of time and with shortening days I thought I'd look for a good
trainer or track stand (not sure what they are called) so I could ride
at home. Thanks for the advice and for your time.

I've got a saris cyclops-2 which I picked up from Chain Reaction last
year. It's a fluid trainer, which is supposed to simulate wind
resistance better. Being the (enterprising person, cheapskate, pick
one) that I am, I didn't buy a riser block and instead I use a phonebook
to prop up the front wheel.

BTW -- disclaimer coming: trainer workouts can be miserably boring. My
suggestion to help pass the time away is to set the trainer up in front
of the idiot box and get caught up on the movies you've missed over the
past year (or three), and make sure to have a fan blowing on you.

Good luck!
