I rode the 3 State ride once a few years back.  It was a nice event and pretty well supported the year I rode it.  I don't recall the climbing overall to be as challenging as 6 Gap, but the third climb had a few steep pitches to it.

I'd ride it again if I had a reason to be up that way for sure.
