GCCMail: A-Riders Weekend - South / North Jayson O'Mahoney 26 Feb 2010 11:02 EST

Saturday-SOUTH: Meet at 9am, depart at 9:15am. Racing happening this
weekend so many of the regulars may be hammering out of town.

Sunday-NORTH: Meet at 9am, depart at 9:15am.

About the A-Riders :
Helmets are required on all GCC Rides. Expect mileage to be in the
50-70+ range with one rest stop. Routes are determined prior to the
ride depending on which way the wind is blowing and who shows up.
Routes are agreed upon by consensus the morning of and may change en
route. Speed is consistently 20+ mph during the ride with surges
exceeding 25 mph (and sometimes 30 mph). A-Riders do respect all road
safety rules, but do not respect a specific speed limit, especially
after the rest stop.

A-Riders call CLEAR, YO, GIDDYUP or whatever works at intersections
and are experienced enough to use common sense without starting a sad
50 page email discussion. We will often regroup at major
intersections before the rest stop, but not necessarily after the rest
stop.

A-Riders know how to dress appropriately for the weather and will ride
when everyone else is whinging about the cold. Looking cool even if
you get dropped is important. Showing up to the ride with an Assos
jacket earns major style points! Remember, flapping yellow mongo rain
jackets / vests are seriously bad form. A is for Awesome... and
Fun...

NORTHERN ROUTES:
MEET: At the Chevron station @ NW 43rd St and 53rd Ave (Hunters
Crossing and Millhopper Road)

PARK: In along NW 43rd St. Start at the north end and work south. If
you care about a low carbon footprint, you'll make an effort to RIDE
rather than DRIVE to the ride start.

SOUTHERN ROUTES:
MEET: At the "Kangaroo" on the NW corner of SW 34th St and Williston
Road... just like "shrimp on the barbie", there is nothing Australian
about this marsupial wannabe petrol station.

PARK: At the end of SW 47th Ave just east of 34th Street across from
the big Post Office. If you park in the Publix parking lot please park
as close to 34th Street as possible. We want to keep the spots close
to the stores open for shoppers.
