GCCMail: Slow Ride This Saturday
George Edwards 28 Mar 2007 08:47 EDT
Dear Friends:
George and Lee will be riding on the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail this
Saturday 31,March leaving the Boulware Springs Inner (North) Parking Lot
at 9:00 AM, and would welcome some company. We will amble along at a
modest pace, stopping to look at interesting things, including many of
the Spring wildflowers which are just getting tuned-up and going. Last
week the Feet First folks scared up a wild pig out by Hawthorne, and in
January my Interpretive Ride spotted an otter near Boulware Springs, so
you just never know. There are two active osprey nests just off the
Trail. The weather looks to be fine.
We will be delighted to have anyone interested in a sociable ride to
look at Nature. If you are interested in pounding the pavement at your
maximum velocity for maximum distance, you will find us b-o-r-i-n-g. (I
mean, what could be less interesting than flowers, animals, rocks,
history and all that dumb stuff?)
This is not an organized group ride, and there are no "membership"
requirements (well, you have to wear a helmet on any GCC ride due to
insurance regulations). If you want to ride just for the fun of it,
come on out.
Afterwards we will probably go to Satchel's for a slice.
Cheers,
George
