GCCMail: MIKE NIEME WINS NATIONAL CHAMIONSHIP! Ryan Saylor 14 Jul 2007 00:06 EDT

To those who know him, Gainesville's 15 year old Mike Nieme won the Junior
15-
16 NATIONAL TIME TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIP today in Somerset, PA against 91 of the
nation's best
juniors including juniors who race for Discovery/AMD and TIAA-CREF.
Incredible
performance by the phenom many will know from the GCC and Hipp rides.

I'll also mention that Dan Larson is his coach. Dan himself grabbed 2 bronze
medals of his own at the Master's 30-34 National Time Trial Championships as
well as the Criterium National Championships of the same age catagory.

UF's Phil Gaimon and Bobby Sweeting finished an impressive 14th and 31st
respectively in the Under 23 Time Trial among a field of 89 racers. I should
mention that this is the only men's catagory in which professional racers
can
participate besides the all professional catagory. So, there were lots of
pro
riders competing in this catagory.

UF's Jacquelyn Crowell took 8th in the Under 23 women's catagory.

Lastly, I want to mention that Mike Nieme, Dan Larson and Jacquelyn Crowell
all race for Cycle Science bike shop in Juno Beach, Florida. Hats off to
Cycle Science for their continued support of many of Florida's top racers.
