Dear Friends:
I am delighted to report from Trenton that our concerns about where to
eat after a ride on the Nature Coast have been resolved. Petrello's,
which occupies the space of the Olde Boarding House, this week started
to open for lunch.
We had lunch there today, and it was quite a culture shock. They have
completely redecorated, with carpets on the floor, nice pictures on the
walls, and most startling of all, white table cloths, and good cutlery.
And, as one of my sister's little students once observed, "Look, napkins
made of material!"
We had the antipasto, and it was fine, with salami, gorgonzola, roasted
peppers, aged provolone, and even a whole roast garlic head. Pretty
good, with lots of bread and olive oil. Lee had a large dish of
blueberry cobbler, which I was kind enough to help her eat.
The service was very attentive, and the chef even came out to meet us,
being surprised to have business from the Trail. I promised him more in
the future. No on seemed concerned about a bunch of sweaty cyclists.
It is quite a change up from our usual venues, but after all, the best
is good enough for us.
Cheers,
George
