Re: GCCMail: UF Sports Performance Center Services Ken Sallot 11 Oct 2007 13:28 EDT

This morning I went and had the Lactate Threshold test performed at the
Shands Sports Performance Center to help plan my workout schedule for
the off-season and next year. The test itself was a little
uncomfortable, as the goal is to try and get you to work to the point
where you essentially blow up in order to produce the magic numbers.
However, once we had the numbers, Jeff and Pat sat me down and explained
what they meant, and how to improve on aspects of my training and
cycling. They also explained which areas I should focus on over the
next few months.

Both Jeff and Pat are cyclists and triathletes (Jeff's completed 2 iron
men), USA Cycling certified coaches, and have an incredibly large depth
of knowledge in sports physiology. Without a doubt, the hardest part
about the post-test consultation was trying to assimilate all of the
data they presented me with (I'll be doing that for the next few days,
actually).

If you're interested in doing that 4:30 century, or finishing 6-gap, or
just winning the next sprint to the county line, it might be worth your
time to have the testing done and have science tell you what you need to
do next.

I really can't say enough good things about their professionalism and
knowledge. I know a few GCC members have been using Jeff as a coach,
and I suspect they can probably weigh in with positive testimonials.
IMHO, this is a great opportunity for GCC members.
