GCCMail: New Years Day Ride - EZ Riders and Friends
George Edwards 29 Dec 2008 13:43 EST
Dear Friends:
In the long-honored tradition of spending New Years Day doing what you
really want to spend the rest of the year doing, the EZ Riders and
friends of similar disposition will ride the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail
on Thursday 1 January 2009, departing the Boulware Springs Trailhead,
inner (North) parking lot at the very tardy hour of 9:30 AM, returning
there about Noon to retire to one of the few local restaurants open of
New Years Day, most likely Sonny's. Our pace will be majestic, one
might even say ponderous, with frequent pauses. We will visit the two
overlooks (if you wish), and go as far as the Prairie Creek bridge. Or
on to Rochelle - depends on how we are faring and in what fettle we find
ourselves at the point of decision. There is a hill: Many get off and
walk. We wait for them in an interesting ecosystem restoration area.
No one gets left behind. In any case, it will be a short, slow ride.
The weather promises to be cool, so dress accordingly. Bring water, sun
screen, whatever. Helmets required, because it is an insured GCC ride.
Call with question - 333.3184.
Cheers,
George
