Tire liners with or without puncture resistant tubes are effective but are heavy and not fast.
Continental Ultra Gatorskins are an excellent tire if available in your wheel size.

 Any of you have advice on puncture resistant tires?  Weight and speed aren't issues.  This is a riding around town bike.
