GCCMail: Yet another vintage road bike . . . james thompson 04 Mar 2010 14:33 EST

Craig's List at $100, List-serve price $85.

Single-speed conversion 1960s era "G. Ginet" road bike, 56cm (medium
sized), sculpted lugs. Some surface rust, but frame tests true and
dropouts are square. Horizontal dropouts, flat bar, used ATB crankset.
Full medal pedals. Bottom bracket has been converted from incorrigible
French threads with a YST "problem solver" conversion kit. This means
you can actually use the frame, because French threaded BBs are hard
to find. The back wheel is a little off true (no rear brake, problem
solved!), but the main value in this bike is the antique frame, and it
does ride with a good chain line. I've gotten it ridable so you can
cruise around while you're finishing the conversion or upgrading
parts. I've left a right shifter on and some gears so you can convert
to a geared bike if you like. No photos 'cause no camera.
