~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NOTE: This Strays ride is not intended for persons who are not GCC club members, and who have not read the information in the SAFETY links included below.
If you have previously been riding with the Strays and plan to bring a guest, that is fine as long as you realize that it is your responsibility to make sure they are familiar with the safety information and have the bike accessories required of all Strays.
If you are a club member, and have not yet been on a Strays ride, and you have read the safety information, and have the required equipment, you are welcome to ride with us.
Riding a bike on public roads with cars is a serious matter, potentially involving injury or death. We try to make that consequence unlikely by having the riders observe simple rules designed to keep everyone safe. These rules are simple, but not necessarily obvious or intuitive, and that is why people not familiar with those rules do not ride with the Strays.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please do not refer new riders to the Strays unless they can meet the above conditions. This will avoid their disappointment and your embarrassment.

On Monday Sept 7, Strays will ride the Loop Around the Lake, taking in the roads that circle Newnans Lake, passing thru Windsor and Rochelle on the way to the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail. 32 - 35 miles of scenic riding.
Arrive at Boulware Springs at 8:00 am to depart at 8:15.
We will meet at the picnic tables next to the dirt lot.
Speed 2.5 - 46 mph, depending on terrain. Average speed has typically been 12 - 14 mph in recent times . This ride is mostly flat except for the hills of Kincaid Road, at the beginning of the ride.
There will be two convenience store / rest room stops during the ride. The first stop will be at about the 3 mile point in the ride, for those who need a bathroom break, before the next stop at Tim's Fast Nickel (at about mile 22).
No pace lines, no racing, no wheel sucking, just a fun social ride.
After the ride the hungry will head to the GCC picnic tables at Boulware Springs to demonstrate our ability to eat mass quantities......
Helmets are REQUIRED on all Strays rides, mirrors recommended, music machines and headphones forbidden.
Safety protocols are always observed on Strays rides
NEW RIDERS must read the following before joining us:
