GCCMail: A-Riders - MLK Day - North Ride 9am Jayson O'Mahoney 13 Jan 2010 23:26 EST

For those fortunate to have MLK Day off as a holiday, there will be an
A-Ride to relax, unwind and take in the scenery. To further celebrate
this occasion we will be having a Starbucks or three after the ride.
This is a sad replacement for the Adelaide ride hard as / coffee /
Italian pastries scene but in a jam it will do.

When: 9am, leaving about 9:15am ish.

Where: Millhopper Chevron, corner of 43rd Street and Millhopper Road

This ride is not in any way intended to take the wind out of Erker's
sail and his ride posting. However, unlike Erker's ride, we will not
be adjusting the start time to suit the optimal thermal temperature of
Erker's vest lining. Maybe Erker will join us?

About the A-Riders :
Helmets are required on all GCC Rides. Expect mileage to be in the
50-70+ range with one rest stop. Routes are determined prior to the
ride depending on which way the wind is blowing and who shows up.
Routes are agreed upon by consensus the morning of and may change en
route. Speed is consistent 20 + mph during the ride. With surges
exceeding 25 mph (and sometimes 30 mph). A-Riders do respect all road
safety rules, but do not respect a specific speed limit, especially
after the rest stop. We will often regroup at major intersections
before the rest stop, but not necessarily after the rest stop.
A-Riders know how keep it real - Ken Sallot may be limping a little
and covered in bandages so be nice.
