GCCMail: EZ Riders This Saturday
George Edwards 02 Aug 2007 07:37 EDT
Dear Friends:
The EZ Riders will ride the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail this Saturday 4
August 2007 starting at 8:00 AM from the parking lot at CR 234 and CR
2082 in Rochelle, now known as Witness Tree Junction because there is
one of those in the trailhead being developed on the South side of the
Trail by Alachua Conservation Trust.
Slow speeds, stops for wildflowers, and a total distance of not much
more than 30 miles. Suitable for beginners and children.
We need to look at the new pavement at SE 200th Terrace, which is
courtesy of Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park who did the work, the
Tourism Development Council who provided the money, and Froghat who got
the grant from them. Yea for all of them for eliminating a dangerous
patch of sugar sand at a rough unpaved intersection. They say there is
more paving of dirt road crossings yet to come.
Bring bug juice, sun screen, water, etc. We will eat lunch after at
some place that suits the participants, and I vote for Satchel's if we
can get in.
See you Saturday.
