Donations for cycling in Cuba Caryl McKellar 01 Dec 2022 12:31 EST

Joyce Bono and I are going on a cycling tour in Cuba this January. As you probably know one of the required categories of travel there asks you to be a support to the Cuban people. Our tour company supplies equipment to a sports school that has a racing cycling team.

We received this as a recommendation as to how we can help:

When you join us on one of our tours, we will ask you to bring whatever you can to donate to these kids. For example, your old 700c x 23c or 25c tires might be worn out to you but are like gold here. Handlebars, stems, seats, cassettes and brakes are all very useful donations. Handlebar tape is an inexpensive, easy to pack gift that is often overlooked. If donating clothing, small and medium sizes are most useful.

Joyce and I will be at the GCC holiday party next Sunday. I know many of you donate supplies to Diann’s vet program but if you have anything we could take to Cuba you could bring it to us at the party.
Or contact me (leave a message) 352-214-9903.
Thanks!
