1. The closed, flooded Section between Grandin and Putnam Hall: On Sunday we found that the water had receded so much that it was easily passable, even by our low slung recumbent trikes. Consider it now open (at least until the next heavy rain).
2. The 5.7 mile trail extension east from Roberts Lane in Carraway to the Palatka area (St. Johns Water Management District HQ vicinity) was completed 6 weeks ago. It is a paved,
straight, fairly flat path with some shade, pleasant scenery and a very slight downgrade west to east. As of now there are no convenient places to park east of the Roberts Lane parking area in Carraway, nor are there yet any amenities (benches, bathrooms,
water) or convenience stores.
Fun rides: Beginning at Twin Lakes Park in Keystone (parking, bathrooms, water, picnic shelter) the ride to the new eastern end is about 21 miles. Along the way is the very clean
and well kept Florahome trail head (bathroom, water, picnic area), 8.6 miles east of Twin Lakes, with a convenience store/gas station/Subway just a few hundred yards to the south on SR 100.
This is a beautiful, well kept trail, with many scenic overlooks over lakes and sinkholes just east of Putnam Hall.
