Hi everybody,
FIVE days remain for the Bike League National Mileage Challenge! As of today's date, GCC's team has a lead of over 210,000 points to the second placed team. With five days remaining, there is no way GCC can lose! Regardless, don't forget to log your September miles. I'm still hoping GCC can crack 500,000 points if people log their miles??
Without speaking ahead of myself, the Bike League has been in contact with me directly, and are preparing an award for GCC's victory in the Teams category. There will likely be a presentation, and an interview or two. I'll provide more details as they present themselves. Suffice to say, folks nationwide are going to know about Gainesville's community of cyclists! Thank you again to EVERYONE who has participated in the challenge, it would not have been possible without the contributions of every single one of you.
Special thanks to the following people:
Scott Erker - Scott has been busting out serious miles in an effort stay in the Top 10 nationally, keep me out of the Top 10, and in 2nd place on the GCC club standings :)
Ed Pavelka - Ed doesn't need much introduction, Google his name to read more about him.
Michael Robinson aka Dr Pain - he's been doing his usual riding, nothing has changed with his mileage routine.
Lambert Vaes - Lambert has faced a few challenges in his life lately, but still managed to push on with the miles.
Chelsea Factor and Justin Runac - Representing Team Florida!
James Thompson - for his sick night time riding, all in an effort to stay close to Lambert Vaes...
Rob Robins - if anybody can join the mileage challenge, this guy is proof!
Ed and Judy Gardner - Ed is 67yo, but don't let that fool you. He's also ride leader for the B-17's. Judy Gardner is a hand cyclist - yes, hand cyclist. Imagine cranking those miles out by hand??!!
Tom Ward - Tom has been riding a lot of miles in NC, off road and on. Quite frankly, I think he's been riding in paradise lately, so nothing to complain about really.
Brendan DeFaoite - Currently Brendan is recovering from a nasty crash, but he provided plenty of miles for GCC's cause.
Arnold Betancourt - Recumbent cyclist extraordinaire.
Patrick Ryon - Powered by plants only... aka vegan.
Roger Pierce - the GCC would be lost without Roger's help.
Bob Newman - GCC's former El Presidente... thanks for contributing Bob!
