Hello
I requested FDOT sweep the area north of Micanopy in the 441 N bike lane up to Wacahoota Road or so.
The gravel was making me nervous and avoid the bike lane. They did way more than I requested.
Thanks to FDOT!

Ronald,
Thank you for bringing this condition to our attention. We do not normally have to sweep rural paved shoulders, but the surface asphalt on US 441 in this
area is raveling, releasing the gravel you are seeing on the bike lane. Earlier this week we swept the specific area you asked about, as well as the rest of the northbound and southbound bike lanes between the Marion County line and SR 331 (Williston Road)
in Gainesville, about 22 miles of paved shoulder. Unfortunately, it will likely be a couple of years before this section of US 441 is resurfaced. In the meantime, we will continue to monitor the bike lanes and sweep them periodically on an as needed basis.
If you see the gravel building up in the bike lanes before we sweep again, please feel free to call our office at 352-381-4300 or my direct number at 352-381-4316.
Sincerely,
Steve Scanlan
Gainesville Operations Program Engineer
