I am proud to announce the official formation of the first and as yet unnamed Bike-Ped-Transit Coalition for Gainesville, Florida.  Present at the creation of this citizens group were stakeholders and advocates from the bus, bike, pedestrian, general transit, and neighborhood action communities.  Southwest Area Gainesville Advocacy Group, Gainesville Cycling Club, Bike Florida, the Kickstand, and the Amalgamated Transit Union (RTS folk) were represented, and more I'm sure I forgot.

 

Look forward to future news about the group in the online news at www.gccfla.org.  We did elect officers and agree to some basic guidelines, but this is really just a teaser.

 

This activity reflects a massive upsurge in transit advocacy and interest represented more officially by the recent Transportation Summit for Alachua County/Gainesville.
