Team Florida Members, Alumni, and all those who knew/loved Mike Edmonds:

We are approaching the 1 year mark of Mike's passing, but one year gone is not one year forgotten. His parents are struggling and greatly need your help.

Dear Cyclist:

The 4-H Ham Jammers club of Green Cove Springs, Florida is working on a community service project that we feel is truly a worthy cause.  Many of you knew and cared for Mikey Edmonds.  At this time his family is in great need and our club has come together in the hopes that we can make some big changes in their lives.
Mikey’s parents live in a mobile home that is in great need of repairs. The walls are filled with mold because the roof is leaking water every time it rains and the front porch is a safety hazard.  Mikey’s father lost his job during the time that Mikey was struggling with his depression and injuries.  He had been without work for some time and their bills piled up.  The passing of Mikey, as you can imagine, has been extremely hard on his family.  Even to this day, Mikey’s room remains the same as when he was still living.  This family needs a fresh start and our club wants to give it to them.  They do not have the money to repair their home and after having a local contractor look at it, we have been told that repairs are going to be extensive.  Our plan is to try to find an inexpensive used or foreclosed mobile home, and with the money we raise, we will fix it up. We have been offered all types of free labor and have been offered some building materials.  We just need to find a mobile home shell that can be refurbished.
Because of Mikey’s great love for cycling and the wonderful benefit it gave to his health, the UF Cyclist Club was probably one of the best things that ever happened to him.  I understand that the people in your group loved him as much as he loved you all.  So, we would like to ask for your help with this service project.  If you are willing to help with a fundraiser, or even just donate to the project we would be so grateful.
Please feel free to contact me if you need more information or have any questions that I can answer.  My home phone number is (904) 529-8109.

                                                                        Sincerely,
                                                                        Hailey Davis
                                                                        Club President
