Greetings trendsetters,

Beginning Tuesday, November 13, the inaugural GCX cyclocross limerock evening rides will get underway.  It is anticipated these rides will be held twice weekly, with rides happening on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  Rides are posted to the GCC calendar and http://www.gainesvillecycling.com/calendar.php

Rides will meet 6pm, with Tuesday evening typically being a longer route, and higher intensity.  However, for the month of November, we will be going a little easier than usual due to the off season.

A few things you should know about the ride:

1. This is an A-Level ride. You need good fitness to attend.

2. A cyclocross bike is optimal on these rides. A strong MTB'er will be fine, but may suffer on the few paved road sections. Recommended tyre pressures for cross on limerock is 35 - 40psi.

3. A 500 lumen bar or helmet light is highly recommended. More lumens is better. Don't forget about your taillight!

4. Good skills; we ride dirt roads, many at speed once the (W)intervals begin in December. There may be sandy sectors on some of the routes, but these sectors are helpful for developing handling skills.

5. Group ALWAYS reforms at the end of each dirt road section, nobody is left behind.

6. The overall average speed for the entire ride will usually fall between 19 and 22mph.

Finally, some of us meet at the Chevron Petrol station at the corner of 43rd Street and Millhopper Road at 5:30pm, and ride to Desoto Park in Hague.

These are some of the most fun rides of year, come on out!

Regards,

Jayson
