Two upcoming community bike helmet distributions are planned, and will require GCC's help.  The majority of the helmets will be given to children.  Such events are a great way for GCC to promote cycling safety and perform a valuable community service.

The first event is Saturday, April 8th at the Southwest Advocacy Group (SWAG).

The second event is Sunday, June 4th, and will take place at the Freewheel Project on S. Main ST. (More details will be forthcoming).

The most urgent need is for the earlier (April) event at SWAG.

FYI:  bicycle helmets that are provided free of cost by FDOT can only be distributed by certified helmet fitters.  The City of Gainesville offers bike helmet fitting courses.  Several GCC members have taken the class.  If you are a certified helmet fitter, we need you!  We can also use help from other volunteers to assist with crowd control and registration duties.

Please let me know if you are interested in either event.  If you are a GCC member and you have taken the helmet fitting class, please let me know, even if you are not available to help with these 2 events, so that I can maintain a list of helmet fitters for future giveaways.
