GCC members are needed to staff free bike valet parking for two upcoming events.

Bike Valet duties may include helping with set-up and tear-down, and checking bikes in and out of our secure bike parking area.  Set-up involves putting up an Easy-Up tent and folding table, roping off a bike corral and assembling simple portable bike racks. You will interact with riders, get them registered, tag and park their bikes, then return the bike to its rider at checkout time.  People skills and attention to detail are a plus. Bring a folding chair, since a lot of your time will be spent sitting under a shady tent talking bikes with people who ride them.

1) Menagerie in Motion Kinetic Derby is on Saturday 02/25. Volunteers needed for a minimum of 2-hour shifts between  9:00 a.m. and 1 p.m.  Menagerie in Motion is Gainesville's original kinetic sculpture derby.  Think:  human-powered works of imagination and artistry!  The event will start and end in Depot Park on S. Main ST.

2) Active Streets Gainesville is on Sunday 02/26. Volunteers are needed for minimum 2-hour shifts from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.  Active Streets is Gainesville's cyclovia street closure event where citizens leave their cars behind and take over a public street on foot or bike to meet and greet neighbors and friends, enjoy activities, music, and food vendors.  Active Streets will also be located in an adjacent to Depot Park, along part of S. Main ST.

Both offer a chance to volunteer on behalf of GCC while providing much-appreciated free, secure bicycle parking, and enjoy the event (s) .  Flexible scheduling is available.  We will try our best to accommodate your schedule.

Never done bike valet before?  No worries. Experienced bike valet pros will be on hand to help newcomers learn the ropes.
