The Gainesville Cycling Club (GCC) will have a picnic on Labor
Day, Monday, Sept. 7 at Boulware Springs, the trailhead
for the
Gainesville/Hawthorne Trail. Food will be served about noon.
Ride leaders may want to organize rides that will conect with
the picnic.
Please RSVP by e-mail so we know who much food to order.
The Gainesville/Hawthorne trail is very safe and beautiful,
and
safe for children of all ages. Please bring anyone
interested.
There is a new feature on the Gainesville/Hawthorne Trail,
a
one and a half mile dirt biking/hiking trail, which is excellent for
hiking and good for introducing beginners to the fun of trail bike
riding. The trail is about 1/4 mile east of Boulware Springs on the
rail trail and has an outstanding sculpture made from a bike parking
rack.
As to food, the Club will serve fried chicken and roast chicken
from Grandy's. Club members are asked to bring a side dish such
as a
salad or a desert to round out the meal. The club will provide soft
drinks.
We will need some volunteer help for the picnic, in particular,
someone to sweep leaves off the picnic tables at Boulware. Let
me know
if you can help.
