The Saddle Tramps will ride Wednesday September
7th, from the Hague Park on 441 to La
Crosse. We will ride rest to CR237, then north to NW 156th Ave
(CR22) where we will turn east to SR121 which we will take north to La
Crosse
for a short rest stop. We will then proceed east on SR235 and turn
south
on CR231 which we will take to NW 192nd Ave which we will follow east to NE
21st
Street which we will take south back to NE 156th Ave, then turn west and go
back
to SR231 which we will take south until it forks into SR121 which we will
continue south on until it crosses SR441 which we will take northwest back
to
our starting point in Hague.
This is a ~31 mile ride with
mostly smooth roads and a few hills. Restrooms are
available
at a convenience store near the park and at the rest stop
in La
Crosse. Meet at 7:15AM for a departure at 7:30AM
so
we get as much cool morning air as possible. High temperatures
are
currently forecast in the high 80s later in the day, so bring plenty
of
water (at least 2 bottles!) and dress for hot weather. It
would be a good idea to bring a few dollars to purchase a cool drink
at the
rest stop to stretch your water supply, and purchase an
energy snack, if you don't usually carry one.
Expect level-ground pedaling speeds
between
13-16 mph, and an average speed of 13-14 mph on this
route. This is a no-drop friendly ride; nobody needs
to
stress themselves to keep up with the leader or faster riders,
because
we will stop and wait for everyone to regroup at each
major
turn. Helmets are required,
suntan
lotion is recommended, as many parts of this ride are in sunny
open
areas.
The park at Hague is located on the north
side
of SR 441 approximately a mile from the intersection of NW 43rd Street with
a
convenience store and gas station adjacent.
