Saddle Tramps will do
an Urban ride
Sunday, August
14th, on a hunt to locate some 25 sculptures placed
strategically around the downtown and University of Florida campus.
This is a joint "Town and Gown" effort called "Crossing Paths" featuring
the work of Sculptor, Seward Johnson, and his life-sized sculptures of
people, with one 20 foot tall piece which is located on the Plaza of the
Americas.
We will depart from my house--
516 N.E. 2nd
Street*--at
7:45 a.m., and
there should be ample space to park your car here. The east side of
Gainesville will yield up at least four of the works of art; others
between downtown and campus, with the majority being close to the Reitz
Union. School is not yet in session so we should have ample freedom
to range around campus and the downtown area to locate the sculptures and
return by 10:30 a.m. Be at my house by 7:30 a.m. in order to plan a
reasonable route.
(*Second Street is one-way going south, so approach
it from North Main or 1st Street by turning east
on 6th Avenue,
then right {south} on 2nd Street. It can also be accessed from N.E.
8th Avenue at a blinking yellow light.)For further
information on the project, check out this website:

I will have maps and some written information for interested
parties.
